We are Millionaire Grinders! What is Millionaire Grinders? It’s a concept. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a mentality. It’s a way of thinking. A fortitude way of thinking to achieve a goal. Millionaire Grinders is a personal finance self-help book. It’s a book I have been working on for years. I wanted to create a financial literate book that all people can relate to and learn from. This book covers everything from banking to buying a car, a house to investing in stocks, retirement accounts, to cryptocurrency. I envisioned my book to be like a college textbook. But my book does not only offer education and information, but it also offers my personal experiences and what I recommend. There is a lot of value in education and knowledge, but I believe there is more weight in experience. This book would not be what it is today without the adversities I had to overcome. I’ve been stiffed by friends and family hundreds of times for thousands of dollars each time. I’ve also lost countless of my lifesavings to my gambling addiction. I even had some financial advisors who told me that my ideals were overwhemingly optomistic and delusional. They argued that my goals were implausible and unsustainable. I had the odds stacked against me. At one point I did lose everything including myself. But losing everything was the best thing that ever happened to me.
I wouldn’t change a single thing. My mistakes led me to a fortune of wisdom. I don’t think I would be able to figure out how to get out of the hole without getting into the hole. I figured out more ways to save than I possibly could imagine. I was also able to validate my ideals, but I realized that this wasn’t just about me, I was seeing so many people around me, who were digging themselves into a bigger hole. I was able to find a pathway to financial freedom and I wanted to share that wealth of knowledge through this manuscript. So much of our lives are reflected in our personal finances. Everyone wants financial freedom, but so many have this perception that money is the key to that gateway. Having money is nice, but it is essentially useless without proper management. I’ve talked about this several times in the book, having more money doesn’t solve your financial issues. It can actually create more problems if not handled with care.
Many people lack the critical money management principles, the financial basics such as budgeting skills and financial responsibilities. While some do know the basics, they simply do not apply them and completely disregard them. The cliché, Ignorance is bliss, couldn’t be more appropriate. Both are clearly missing the formula to be financially successful. Knowledge is certainly power, but without action, it is completely ineffective. What they are missing is the mentality and that mentality I like to call, the grinding mentality. This is the ingredient people need to prosper financially. With the right mindset, you can do just about anything.
I didn’t get where I am today by winning the lottery, inheriting estate, settling from a disability, or receiving from a large settlement, winning a massive parlay or working laborious hours. I did it with a certain mindset. And I challenge you all to take a hard look at your personal finances. Are you doing everything you can to diminish your debt? Are you doing everything you can to elevate your assets? Your effort can drastically impact your personal finances. Millionaire Grinders is not so much about making more money, it’s about the mentality, the grind, and having a judicious way of life. The goal is not to make a million dollars. The goal is to acquire a certain mentality. It has always been about the mindset, not about being or becoming a millionaire. A million dollars may be a highlight of your life, but it won’t take you in leaps and bounds, in fact you’re more likely to take your money for granted and your money will fall precipitately. Money is temporary and limited, it’s not infinite, but the mentality is. Only the mentality will take you to the next step and everything beyond. That is the concept and theme of this book, to get you grinding like a millionaire, but keeping that mentality, that’s the real grind. That’s what we are about. That’s the true meaning of Millionaire Grinders.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Alex "Dethcon" Lee is an independent artist and a handicapper. His work includes creating several websites, editing over hundreds of media content, designing graphic design content for several entities, creating several nupastel artwork and other mediums.
Alex was born in Chicago, Illinois but he was raised in the northwest suburbs of Buffalo Grove, Illinois. He attended and graduated from Buffalo Grove High School. After high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Alex served 10 years of active duty in the Marine Corps as a Field Radio Operator and Supervisor. He was stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His tours include one combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and two non-combat deployments to Okinawa, Japan, and Republic of Korea. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, he attended William Rainey Harper College and Northern Illinois University. He studied and earned his Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts degree.
Alex started writing Millionaire Grinders in 2009 and took him more than a decade and half to publish his work. The reason why it took so long to publish was because he was actually not intending to publish his writing. He was mockingly writing his stingy ways to make money for sense of humor. His friends find his stingy ways comical and distasteful. They were dismissive, thinking that it was a waste of time piling chump change. But he soon realized that some of these activities were real moneymakers. He was able to save more than he could possibly imagine, his savings grew exponentially. What started out to be self-deprecating jokes turned into a goldmine of real financial strategies.
One friend (who is mentioned in the book) encouraged him to publish his ideals into a book. Long story short, his friend thought that the people who borrowed money from him weren’t good for it and would constantly ask him for money. Alex was so inspired by his friend’s idea that he literally put pen to paper. But he quickly realized that this would require a lot more legwork than just publishing his idea. He envisioned to create a manuscript of not just educating, but also enlightening. His goal was to publish a book that not only features how to budget and properly use credit cards, but also to convey his experiences and lessons. Editors who have read the book found his insights to be quite profound. But Millionaire Grinders needed much more than enlightenment, it needed research, validation, licenses, statistics, and many other needs.
Although there was some procrastination, he was constantly revising, and reworking on the project while he was serving the Marine Corps and attending Northern Illinois University. It was a lifelong journey to publish Millionaire Grinders and it is finally, finally published!
